Hello Friend! Today, we’re going to talk about what it takes to win a Red Dot Design Award or an iF Design Award. I'll share with you five crucial key factors to help you build a framework and increase your chances of winning. Make sure to like and bookmark this to find it when preparing for your competition!
First, Innovation. The most important aspect of design is innovation! Use innovative ways to solve the problems you’ve identified. Don’t just tweak someone else’s solution and present it as new. Designs that break conventional thinking are what the judges really want to see.
Second, Functionality. Design is fundamentally about solving real problems, so judges also value the practicality of the design. Don’t focus solely on aesthetics—good looks alone won’t cut it!
Third, Aesthetics. The product should not only be functional but also visually appealing. Good looks are fundamental, although what looks good can be subjective. At the very least, it should not be ugly and should have visual appeal.
Fourth, Feasibility. Avoid creating unrealistic designs. Your design needs to be producible and achievable. Judges can immediately tell if your design is practical. No matter how impressive it looks, it's pointless if it can't be produced.
Fifth, Craftsmanship. The level of craftsmanship in your design is also crucial. Your work must be of high quality to catch the judges' eyes. It should look premium, not cheaply made or attempting to cut corners.
Of course, there are many other factors in addition to these key points. I will find another opportunity to explain them in detail later.
I’m William,” and I'll see you next episode! Peace!
